Special Candy Edition

I was reading an article on yahoo today about Halloween treats that kids can't stand.

I thought the author was starting to get a little picky. I mean, I would be ticked off if my trick-or-treating yielded a bag full of toothbrushes and pennies (well, not ticked off today, but wold have been back when I was 10). Still there were quite a few candies that still rank at the top of my list.

The guy lampooned Necco Wafers and Smarties (Smarties being a candy I only got to eat at Halloween). He said kids were disappointed when they got fun size candy bars and other name brand candies (which were always my favorites). I'll admit that you can only eat so much candy corn. The guy seemed to be implying that every house should be passing out full sized candy bars.

As if we don't have enough problems with childhood obesity. Not to mention debt. Does he know how much fun sized candy bars cost? I'd need a loan to pass out the full size bars. In the town I grew up in the only place we got full sized candy bars was at the house of the guy who owned the grocery store. He owed us anyway because he was fleecing our parents due to his monopoly.

Of course I think I'll skip the whole thing and support the fall festival at church so I suppose it is a moot point.

As a HUGE fan of candy corn, this guy made me mad! And I also think Smarties are fine candies and remember loving the fun-sized candy bars. Because when I was a kid, my mom probably wouldn't have let me eat a whole regular sized candy bar, at least not in one sitting! Anyway, I think that guy was a candy snob. And I don't like him. :)
